I donated a kidney to a wounded warrior in July 2013. His story was on the news one morning in December 2012, and I was moved to be tested to see if I was a match. It was quite a humbling experience for me.
I have two uncles and an aunt who have all been recipients of kidneys, as well. Kidney disease runs in my mom’s family.
Also, my mom received a bone marrow transplant; her sister was her donor.
Being an organ donor is so very important, not only to all those individuals waiting, but also to all the people who love them.
