Machelle Landis Corbin – Kidney Recipient

Trust in the Lord with all thy heart, lean not on our own understanding.
You will need a kidney transplant within five years.
You match as well as siblings!

A young woman, always active, always busy, living life to the fullest and with a life full of opportunities ahead, I wouldn’t have anticipated these three statements having a profound effect on my future.  Being diagnosed at age twenty with the kidney disease Glomerular-nephritis and being told by my physician that I would need a transplant within five years, definitely had my family and I questioning and thinking!

Continuing with life as normal, working and eventually starting and growing a billing agency, raising a wonderful daughter, 18 years had passed. Trusting in the Lord with all my heart, He sent an angel to me because He knew it was time to receive my new kidney.

My God-sent earthly angel was my best friend Kathy Jaglowitz.  Kathy told me she had received confirmation that she would be my donor because she had seen the passage Proverbs 3:4-6 on various occasions.  She pleaded with the physicians to be tested since my immediate family was not compatible. When we heard the doctor state “YOU MATCH AS WELL AS SIBLINGS!”

Peace overwhelmed both.

On April 4, 2002, which is also my birthday, I received my new life from my friend and am alive, very much well and still living life to the fullest!

Kathy lives in Lebanon KY and is also very much alive and very much well today!  She did not hesitate to give the Gift of Life and, like everyone else, did not expect an opportunity to help someone as a living organ donor!
