Highlands ARH Regional Medical Center Honors Donate Life Mission

PRESTONSBURG, KY. June 4, 2020.  On Monday, June 1, 2020, Highlands ARH Regional Medical Center raised the Donate Life flag in remembrance of all organ, tissue, and cornea donors. In partnership with the Kentucky Organ Donor Affiliates (KODA), ARH’s Community Chief Executive Officer, Tim A. Hatfield and Don Willis, a previous Highlands ARH employee, a KODA Ambassador and kidney recipient, assisted in orchestrating the event. 

This event was Highlands ARH’s first Donate Life flag raising. The hospital intends to  host a flag raising for many years to come The flag-raising honored the Gift of Life, including a prayer and remarks from Hatfield. Highlands ARH serves Martin, Floyd, Magoffin, and Johnson counties.

 “Over the years KODA and ARH have developed a strong partnership to help save and heal lives through organ and tissue donation. This flag raising event provides us with the ability to pay respects and remember those who’ve given life to others through organ, eye or tissue donation,” Hatfield said

Lauren Salyer, KODA’s Hospital and Community Educator in Southeast Kentucky, was touched by Highlands ARH’s continuous effort to inspire hope. “We appreciate Highlands ARH’s continuous efforts to bring education about helping others through organ, tissue, and cornea donation to their community,” said Salyer. “The Donate Life flag is a wonderful symbol of hope to see in front of the hospital.”
